Jen's Birthday

Sunday is Jen's birthday and woo-hoo! Not intended to be a day "off" from training, so I hit the gym early for 45 on the elliptical and 30 on the bike. Sushi and bubbles are in the mix for later, so my food intake is truly a hunt and gather situation!

Jami and Jane set up shop out on the south shore with a wine bag of booze, a platter of cupcakes, and some snacks. The weather is most stunning, and I grab Jen from her folks after a family birthday brunch and we crank ABBA and head out. Subsequently, what should have been a 90 second drive turns into 3 ABBA songs and a phone call to Jami due to my natural lack of direction.

But upon our arrival, the bubbles flowed and we sat around and enjoyed what is likely to be voted the best day yet of 2010. It was sooo nice to sit and hang with the girls, as our lives are cranking up and gettting nuts as the season edges our way.

After the beach days closes to an end, we caravan around to change, then pop over to Lola 41's Red room for some sushi and (more) Champagne! The night is awesome, and totally ends with Jen demanding to find a kareoke bar...love that girl.

  1. I had written some stuff here and then my connection crapped out and I lost it all and shit now I can't think what everything was but if it gets duplicated well you'll get the drift...

I think somehow either I missed the fact that you had it up there or you changed it, but your subtitle about a functional athlete got me thinking about my coaches(loose terminology)take on fitness. A great read by Greg Glassman about functional fitness, google crossfit journal fuctional fitness should be a journal from October 2002. If you cant get it and are interested let me know and I'll email you an attachment. Great stuff in there anyway.

You were right, by the way, about the meat diet...not about my arteries but thats a discussion for another day, but about Julie. About three days into that and she was ready to kill or divorce...not sure...me. So I've had to transition to a more hunter gather type of lifestyle. Sushi is not hunter gatherer by the way....unless you're eating only the fish and not he rolls...but thats beside the point...it tastes good and i haven't had any in 4 weeks and I'm jealous as hell...

but they use far too much soy so its best I just give it up for good....phytoestrogens bad bad bad....especially in EDAMAME!

One man wrecking crew like I said.....

If you're still reading....is there a significant benefit to sustainable grape growth versus regular farming procedures? If so what are they and how do they effect the end product? Mainly just differences in pesticides and herbicides right? Whether your phosphorous comes from some animal byproduct or some whitecoat byproduct?
