Saturday Spin

I'm up before the sun on Saturday, and Scout and I watch the dark and dreary storm clouds get overtaken my blue skies and sunshine (it was short-lived) during sunrise. Mother Nature is bipolar I tell you...

I walk in the club Saturday, having started the day off totally on the wrong foot with a dead car battery and a missing radio security code. There is an impromptu spin class starting in 30 minutes; what a perfect penance for my transgressions as of last night! I hope on the elliptical to warm-up and the hit the road with the rest of the crew.

As mentioned before, Carolyn's classes are high high resistence, a long slow road carving climb. Todays class is true to form, and I use it to contemplate the upcoming month of March and it's 31 days here on the island. I have a couple of tastings off island, which is exciting due to involving a hotel room and keep my island fever to a minimum. Work is progressively getting busier, so I have that as well. But I need to add something into this training to keep it interesting...more strength training? I note to myself to discuss with Jami. I do desperatley need to get my rear to Wheel Works of Belmont and get fitted for a bicycle soon. After class, Jami and I make Sunday plans to grab a sushi roll Sunday and discuss March and our survival of it.

A quick trip to the S&S leaves me home for the rainy dreary afternoon with a fire in the fireplace and a hardcore nap on the couch (all those damn carbs from last night!). I swear to myself to make up for Friday night all weekend long, so wish me luck!

  2. Christ on a bicycle Gilbert...this looks very difficult. And people keep reminding me...it's a ride not a race. But the day I do 400 situps you will be the first to know!

  3. it all gets better with deadlifts, shoulder presses and squats...and thousands of pullups....and situps if you must, but if you're doing the deadlifts, shoulder presses, and squats right your core really doesnt need any extra help what with your Seal Team Training.

On a different note I started an all meat diet a couple of days ago and I dropped 6 pounds already...just incase your looking for something that tastes good to keep that weight off...

  5. An all meat diet you say? Gilbert I can almost hear your left ventricle slamming shut from Texas.
Sweet Jesus, I need to prepare my core for this crazy training of yours. Sadly, Jami just mentioned it to me about half and hour ago so I have a feeling I am about to get my ass handed to me.

  6. funny but folks subsisting on an all meat diet never experienced cancer or heart trouble or smelly farts for that matter and very rarely experienced tooth decay or cavities. Thats atleast what the anthropological evidence tells us, but we'll see. I'm gonna give it a whirl for shits and grins.

  7. Don't you go all "Christian Science Monitor" on my blog Gilbert :-) Okay, just keep me posted on your cholesteral and Julie's response to this all.
FYI...I did 100 pushups yesterday (obviously not all at once) in order to simulate some crossfit video and my arms feel like they were attached with a staple gun.
